Now this is a motley collection of piccies that I have "inherited" - there's no theme to them and I may end up using them elsewhere in this web-site... I'll try to get them displayed chronologically....

Family Pavey..... the mother in the centre would be my grandmother - mother's side - never met her.... (l to r) her son Bert with his son Don, behind is her daughter Florence, then the mother Pavey, standing is her daughter Kate and sitting (I guess) Peter (son of Florence) and then my mum - her daughter Lily. When would that have been taken...?? Late 1930's....??

My dad Thomas Curley.... what a dapper lad - note the handkerchief just showing at left wrist!! This was taken in Brighton (must be before WW II.??),

Aunt Pat - amateur dramatics - dated 7th November 1936.

Aunt Pat again - I'm guessing now - in her role as Buyer for Fenwicks of Regent Street - noted on reverse "Redheads Studios, 34 Jesmond Rd., Newcastle Upon Tyne

We've jumped many years... this is my dad's passport photo round about mid 1950's - he had to go to Malta (I think) on a picture (film industry).

Around 1957 - my mum in the back garden at North Hyde Road - all dolled up to go... I don't know where...

?cousin? Peter Olney in the garden of his parent's house - 19 Laurel Avenue, Wickford, Essex.

Aunts Flo and Kate at 19 Laurel Ave.

My father died around about the winter of 1960. Before his death, he worked in the film industry - and they had.... the Cinematograph Trade Benevolent Fund... which provided my mum and I, I think, 2 holidays at Morecambe and one winter holiday at a big manor-type house in the Thames valley somewhere - see further below...

I'd inherited lots of clothes from ?cousin? John Flower... shoes, jackets etc... and.... see me at the back of the following photies.... a Lovat Green suit - which I treasured.... Now, these 2 photies were taken at Hertingford Bury Convent where Aunt Eileen was a nun. Cannot remember the occasion (around 1962/3) but cast is (left piccie - l to r) - below is young son of Angela (nee Flower), Aunt Eileen, Grandmother on Father's side, me at back, Aunt May Flower, daughter of Angela and Angela herself. Next piccie - my mum is "in" ands aunt May is "out".

So... here we have Morecambe, circa 1962/63......

a post card, out of picture to the right and across Morecambe Bay is The Lake District.

And here's my mum sauntering, parading and posing... in Morecambe..

These last 3 ladies.... all widows of men who worked in the film industry. The lady on the left (Doris??) had 2 lovely daughters Linda and Lesley we visited them in their flat at Hammersmith and there I met Carol ???? who lived in Bolton Gardens in Earls Court - same building as the West Indian Students Union Centre. The lady in the middle I don't remember...... my mum at right. Here's a little snippet..... September 1966, I was visiting Carol and her parents in their flat in Bolton Gardens the evening the Prime Minister of South Africa - Mr Verwoerd was assassinated (by a white farmer as I recall) and knowing nothing of the country nor its politics (apartheid) I said "poor man"... to which Carol's dad said "don't let the boys downstairs hear you saying that"... welcome to politics!!

My old mum had to go out to work to make ends meet - she ended up at the Ministry of Health at the Elephent & Castle - only a 2 hour ride on trains there - and 2 hours back... well done mum!!

And here are Aunt Flo and Uncle John in their back garden.. John Olney and Florence Olney..

I think this must be around 1965/6 - Aunt Kate and Uncle Non outside their house in Clapham - I think Mum and I took them out in my newish red Beetle...

Wedding of Steve and Julie (daughter of Don and Nin)... August 16th, 1980

Steve and Julie's - Philip's christening.... 1987

Don and Nin

Don, Nin, Susan and Julie - 59th wedding anniversary on September 2nd 2009

September 1971 - Reception (in Steinhude) after our marriage a few days earlier (15th September) in lovely Slough. Caroline Barker, Anne Basson, James Barker (just behind my head), me, Paul Basson, Almuth - trooping into celebratory dinner.

We found a new, small terraced house in Hazlemere, Bucks for about 9,000 quid - basically made out of cardboard, warm air central heating and postage-stamp back garden, but that was all we could afford!!

Britta was born 12th June 1973 whilst Brendan (one of the Natal Hayward relatives) was visiting (I can remember driving him to the Royal Canadian Hospital at Taplow) and he cringing as we swept round bends (keeping to our side of the road - of course), but he was more used to seeing 2 miles ahead, rather than just 20 feet!!

Then the little bundle was home, and Oooooh eeeerrrrrr - we had to take care of her.....

Britta at Brickwell Walk born June 1973 - so this must be about August 1973..?? Winston..??

Here she is, aged about 4 or 5 months... quite the little "Winston"!!

And this next shot is Germany (uncertain of the date)....

Family Brosch.. in the back garden, house in background - (l to r) - Gisella (married to Almuth's brother Michael (what a good name!!)), dunno, dunno, standing blonde haired boy could be Ingo (son number 2 of Gisella and Michael), green shirt dunno, Heiko (1st son), Anja (1st daughter) and in far distance - mum.... Frau Brosch. The "dunnos" are probably neighbours kiddie-winks - in for a play/game. See the steeple in the left background... Hagenburg Church - lots of singing and baptising etc... done in there!!

April 1974... Britta at Brickwell Walk house - aged 10 months..

The wonderful Citroen Dyane - TYX 465 M.... but where...?? when?? and is that Britta or Inga..?? - assume its Britta for now... very early on - say April 1974... But - bought Dyane in March 1974 does it look brand new...??

Healthy Sunday afternoon walk in the countryside... Britta lets say April 1974

Britta..... say April 1974..??

Whipsnade Zoo - April 1974....

Back garden at 2 Brickwell Walk, Hazlemere, Bucks - April, 1974 - messing about with hats...

Britta Brickwell Walk summer 1974...??

Maybe July 1975, just before Inga born - London Zoo/Alton Towers...??

Britta, but where and when...?? say summer 1975??

Britta and Inga  at Brickwell Walk September/October 1975......

No time to get settled Ing... we all have to go visiting my mum... Inga 7 weeks old and Britta 2 years 3 months (noted by my mum) means this is October 1975 at 131 Tilehouse Way.

Here's Inga at 33 Wheeler Avenue, Penn (but it looks like Brickwell Walk).... so small!! Say October/November 1975

Inga April 1976

Serpentine April, 1976 - Katja and Philip - by their dress - two different days...

With Lore (our first au-pair) - shopping in Amersham. Round about 1975??? late summer?? - but in Dates - I have Lore as 1979!!!!!!!!!

In the kitchen at Hagenburg - Inga about 6 months old?? Say  December 1975??

This was taken at the Wargrave/Knowl Hill Steam Rally - I guess 1976... the long hot summer.. Britta has her Dirndl on - and we don't know who the little girl is.. Maureen and Roger Hicks were with us..

SUMMER 1976..... THE long hot summer......

June/July 1976...

Britta & Mama Henley on Thames - but when?? Say June 1976

One of the "stately homes"??? when, where...???? lets say Summer 1976...

Britta and Claudia Basson - for some reason, with postage stamps on their top lips...

Back of 33 Wheeler Ave

Britta ?ready for swimming?? and Inga with a horse

Then... same day Lore admiring Rhododendrons, Inga in push chair.. where??? when..???

Heiko, Britta, Florian out on the ice - Steinhude Meer..

Almuth, Florian, Sini, Anja, Britta and Heiko head off out onto the ice

Harald and his ice yacht - he and Uli and others named thier yachts after Asterix characters..

Here Sini is with Florian (for some reason dressed up as a clown), and just behind is an ice yacht named "Beim Toutates"

The Team!! Out on the ice again...

SUMMER 1977.................

Britta with little bird... Hagenburg

Kaspartheater

Strassenmusik

Michael and Gisela - Hagenburg - 1977??

I think this was a studio-done photo session - Britta around 1977..

Inga on the Thames towpath, aged about 2 (I'd guess) around Bourne End - and no its not a Union Jack raincoat - its just black, red and white stripes!! Must be about August 1977....??

Aase and Thorolf come to visit Wheeler Ave. Summer 1977??

THE GERMAN INVASION........................ AUGUST 1978.............

I think the arrangement was that we'd drive down to Dover and meet them off the ferry... we got there a bit late and they'd already taken over the promenade..... The family VW Golf (light blue) is just behind....

Troops are.. Anja, Gisela, Ingo, Heiko

So we drove in convoy home to Wheeler Ave - and tried to unpack their car.... Au pair is Ute...

First - some food in the back garden... and then some touristy trips over the next few days...

EXPLORING LONDON...........................

Buckingham Palace...

Statues out in front of Buckingham Palace

Trafalgar Sq...

Trafalgar Sq and National Gallery - very clever shot this - the kiddie-winks can just be seen bottom/middle through the arching water..

After Trafalgar Square - ice-creams...

a rest - but where..??

Guardsmen on horseback Whitehall

Carola, Anja and Almuth

THAMES VALLEY....................................

Cookham Station

Thames cruise Marlow to Cookham.

Ingo organising a dress-up pantomime...Wheeler Ave..

Inga's birthday in back garden 3 Wheeler Ave, 24/8/1978.

Anja's birthday...

Blenheim Palace, Oxon

Picnic in Blenheim Park -  Au pair is Ute..??

Anja leaning over back balcony Hagenburg.. maybe 1978/1979..??

Year of the Child - 1979 - taken at Tylers Green County First School

Britta's birthday party at Wheeler Ave - mum lends a hand...

These four were around 1990, although Paul and I singing could have been after 1983..... top-left - me at Paul & Anne's house playing Book/Film/Song - Anne at top right at our place - Wheeler Ave, bottom-right James singing Christmas carols... was this the Christmas that Almuth drank too much whilst in the kitchen preparing dinner - and went off to bed??

No date for this one... its a picture by Inga entitled "Emily's chair at Granny's" - with correct punctuation etc... the brownish/prple thing in the centre is supposed to be Emily asleep!!

1982...?? An event at Cliveden the Astor's old house in Taplow - there were local celebrities and music - but mostly just sitting around waiting for things to start...

Me and Inga

...........and Britta..... nearly asleep!!

And.... half of Emily....

Inga, Britta and me - around 1984 summer - BBQ in garden at Roman Lodge - Jason Richford/Chocolates getting "mobbed".

Around 1984 - with Roger and Fizzy Fieldhouse around Bristol.

1984/85... a 3 family-get-together at Jan & Eric Richford's place - here Brittsy and I are "setting the table"

Manor Road one snowy morning - around 1985

Me with hat/present for Christmas approx 1985 - Emily has a present too.

Brittsy and I - sooooo happy with our Christmas presents..

Was this New Year 1985?? We went away with the Richfords to St. Pierre golf club at Chepstow - a very good time.... except that I was selected to "mime" to the current hit - Mick Jagger and David Bowie's song - Dancing in the Street... here is my rival miming Jagger's part... easy - I could have done that.... a little skip and a clap of the hands.... my biggest problem was trying to think what, if anything, Bowie did whilst singing..... I lost!!

Same place..... very enjoyable...

I think this was a Banque Paribas evening out in London - around June 1986 to June 1988...????

Absolute exact dating on this one (15th Feb, 1987)... a letter from Inga (aged about 12) to Granny. I'd guess that Godstowe school got "the girls" to write letters fairly regularly and poor thing - she had to write this one to Granny....what shall I say??... what will I write???

Big guess here - think this is Britta, Almuth and I in South Africa (Inga taking the photie??) around January 1989.

Last 2 photies... My old mum in the nursing home at Denham

Must be around 1990/1991 at the Denham nursing home...

This one is dated March 1990, 15 months before she died.....

Around 1991 - Inga and I with Tabitha Stoate - at Alton Towers - I guess Britta is taking the photie..

9th December, 1995 round at Mike and Barbara Waller's flat in Mid-Levels - Ian Morrison and Judy, Barbara Waller and Ada Pitman - Christmas celebrations...

31st December 1995.... Ian Morrison (Wombat), Judy and I celebrating New Year's Even in a bar in Wanchai - actually the bar of the Evergreen/Empire Hotel - where Wombat and I resided, until this very date... I moved into Janet's flat in Mid-Levels from Jan 1st... 1996

Mama, a waiter and Inga - Leeds 1997

Almuth ???1997??

Britta and Oma at the prehistoric/dinosaurs exhibit/site near Hannover - guess around 1998

1997 or thereabouts.... either my or Janet's birthday at Gaddi's Restaurant in the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong - kids came for a couple of weeks - during which we were booked to go to Boracay together - I couldn't make it - but they went anyway.
