All of a sudden, it was decided that Britta and Gary should stop making piles of money, and come to Singapore (etc) for a couple of weeks R & R.
As it turned out, Gary's camera packed up on him and he had to use mine for much of the time - I've tried to keep the piccies from both cameras "in synch" - may not have achieved it all of the time... Anyway... Gary had never flown, nor been out of the UK - so.... was he worried??

it!!!!!!!!!!!
Brittsy was keeping cool, in both aperture settings (we'll be doing a
lot of this)
Horror of horrors - Gary's
just found out they don't serve drinks on the 13 hour flight...
Calm down-time..... they
don't serve non-alcoholic drinks.... phew!! So close down the camera - and get
on that flight....
Well..... that wasn't
sooooo bad!! Here they are, intrepid couple..... 17:15 Singapore time - BA11 has
arrived at Changi airport... get ready to sweat!!
We had a meal indoors and then after a swim - fairly early to bed.......

A relaxed day.....but because of jet-lag etc.... up early....
What about a piccie out of
the back, back-bedroom window - early-morning Singapore.
And another out the side
back-bedroom window. Around this time "haze" was expected for the city - farmers
burning-off in Sumatra and Borneo - doesn't look much like its arrived yet - but
over the following 2-4 weeks it got bad!!
From our lounge - the
pool... 
and Brittsy...
Janet went off to work - and we had to fend for ourselves.....
He's not going to be of
any use in the kitchen!!

To Parkway Parade (via Haig Road) to get stocked up with some provisions...
Then... back for a swim....
...don't you just hate
overcrowded pools??
and then.... its getting towards sundowners-time....
last of the light...
wait for Janet....
and its time for
dinner.... off to Chijmes...
That was dinner - now let's go off to Raffles Hotel -Long Bar for post-prandials...
now which way was it...??

Well....... what to do....?? The kiddie-winks had gone a bit exotic at the supermarket - so first up was breakfast.....
....Dragon fruit!
then, it was .... all sit
round and work out what to do today - and for the next 13 or 14....
I had all the brochures!! And then Brittsy or Gary started
"inventorying" the apartment....
Must be Gary..
It doesn't take us more than a couple of hours - where to spend the next couple of hours..... we're off to Orchard Road....
I'm trying to describe the
layout of the place - but I detect she's not taking a blind bit of notice - not
unreasonable when you consider that Orchard Road is basically straight - with
shopping malls on either side..... I was not to be deterred.....

And then, further down Orchard Road - we found Fuji-man who told Gary that his camera was on its last legs and it was time to buy.... whatever..

We now need to cut across town to get to Clarke Quay to get on
a river-trip

very far...

river-boat cruise - here we are back on Clarke Quay - outside what used to be an
elegant Chinese Restaurant - but which is now part of the "IndoChine" group
(more about them in a couple of weeks....)
