It had seemed such a waste - for 2 years we'd been living in a place with 2 fine tennis courts - and we'd never used them (there again - I've never been in the pool either).
So with JL spending lots of time in S'pore, and having to buy his brother Tyke a new racquet - he brought his own with him - and we had a game.
I'd hit a few balls about 8 years ago in Hong Kong, but hadn't played since 1989, whereas JL plays most weeks in HK - was I up to it??
Firstly, I had difficulty with the new bigger sized racquet heads, funnily enough most shots were coming off the top of the head, whereas I'd have expected more towards the handle. Then of course playing under lights was new... anyway.... we got on with it - and Janet recorded the occasion for posterity.....
It was 19:00 in the evening, had rained, was about 26 degrees and we had to squeegee off the court before we started!!

Yes, yes.. I know he looks like Pete Sampras, but here he's advancing to the net to pick up all the balls lying on HIS side!!
What a serve!! The ball has already hit the back fencing, and JL has yet to react!! Whereas, poised like a panther, ready to strike!!
The head is dropping - excuses are forming (the shoes?/ the wet court??) Relentless!! The unstoppable force!!
Take a deep breath... its almost over.... Is that Game/Set/Match?? No!! One killer blow still to be applied...
So...the old magic is still there!! 7-5 - maybe I should go on the OldPro Tour??
Since then - we've had 2 more games - again the unstoppable force was triumphant 6-3.... but then the steely concentration wavered, the lights went out, it was a stop-start game - and I lost 6-4.... a mere aberration - we shall return!!
