26th April, 1994 - Britta and Michael came back-packing through Hong Kong - and stayed a while (Inga came over from Germland) - before Britta and Michael zoomed off for Singapore.
Britta and Michael did Malaysia (28th May to 7th June), then Thailand (7th June to 28th June) - and it was time to meet up again...
8th June, 1994 - Janet and I fly to Bangkok.... and tour the Grand Palace.. firstly Janet is not acceptably attired - so a "sarong" type thingy has to be used

10th June, 1994
We fly to Phuket and smooth into the Le Meridien hotel (was it at Half-Moon Bay?? - its changed its name now I think). Well anyway - we have arranged with Brittsy and Michael - that they should meet us here - and sure enough....

was in her "Dreadlocks" era!!

We come down to breakfast - and there's an elephant in the restaurant!!

Brittsy and Michael have hired some sort of a road-contraption - and we just have to see the local sights...

Now - you see Michael there -
but doesn't he "blend" in well with the green foliage...?? Then....
We came to a rubber
plantation - and doesn't the bark on the tree at the centre look just like those
camouflage jacket that people wear - AND, doesn't it just fade into the
background as well??
So - as a test.... see if you
can spot Michael in this piccie.....
This piccie shows the dark
trunks of the trees, where they have been cut to get the latex flowing - from
about ground level up to about 5 feet high, and then the natural colour of the
trees continues up.
I was joking!! Michael wasn't in the earlier picture - but it had you looking didn't it??
Now this was the highest point
on Phuket - quite a nice view...
Back to the hotel for a bit of beach time....
I think I can see that I'm
reading Yachting/boating magazines - so the Taipei trip earlier in February
hadn't dampened my "living on a boat" desires...
Then we had dinner.... 
We joined Marshal Pyatt and his wife (DHL colleague of Janet's) -
who were staying at the hotel too..

13/14th June, 1994
One thing we had to see was James Bond/Dr No island. This turned out to be an all-day trip, aboard a very noisy motor-boat thing!! We drove up to the north of the island and...
Walked out on this pier..lovely calm day (hooray!!)
And there was our transport -
a long-tail boat - basically a wooden canoe type craft with a massive V8 or V6
motor on the back - which drove a propeller attached to a 6 foot long prop-shaft
- the engine was unsilenced!! - So loud!! You couldn't talk - and we were
underway for about 90 minutes!!
I'd decided that a few hours
without shade - it would be wise to wear long sleeves and trousers - so
sensible!! Also I think I was feeling a bit sea-sick here...
The boat joined many others - just pushed up on a small beach - and we went off exploring....
Through here - past this massive tilted slab resting on another
slab...
And there we were - scrambling
around a small island - with James Bond island as a backdrop - great - all we
had to do then was motor back!!
Janet and I flew back to Hong Kong whilst Michael and Brittsy continued their backpacking via Tahiti and the USA back to the UK.
